Pathways to STEM Leadership for Camden High School Students
Principal Investigator: Kwangwon Lee, PhD
Community Partner: Camden City School District, and The Hill Family Center for College Access
Location: Camden
This project addresses educational inequities by creating a structured pathway for high school students in Camden City School District to explore and excel in STEM careers. This initiative is rooted in the Rutgers University-Camden E3 Leadership Academy (E3LA) and E3 Student Leaders program, offering mentorship, leadership development, and hands-on STEM experiences.
Key activities include training four high school STEM teachers through a one-week summer program, hosting family and community STEM engagement events, and organizing Rutgers-Camden campus visits for students. Teachers will earn micro-credentials and stipends while developing actionable strategies to support their students’ transition into STEM programs.
This collaboration between Rutgers-Camden, Camden City School District, and The Hill Family Center for College Access aims to build lasting connections, foster family involvement, and increase awareness of STEM education and careers. The project aspires to drive systemic change by equipping Camden youth with skills and opportunities for sustained success in STEM fields.
