Collaboratory is a searchable database that captures how Rutgers faculty and staff engage with communities through courses, research, sustained programs, and partnerships. This explainer video will walk you through the highlights and functions of this new database.

Rutgers Faculty and Staff: You can access Collaboratory using your campus SSO. Once logged in, you can review your profile, claim and add activities, and find ways to expand your community-engaged scholarship. It creates a portfolio of community-engaged scholarship allowing faculty to demonstrate how their efforts are integrated with their teaching and research.

Frequently Asked Questions
Activities in Collaboratory represent relationships between Rutgers and community organizations. They are related to public priorities or issues, and represent mutual benefits for both Rutgers and the community partners involved. The design and/or implementation of activities include the exchange of knowledge/expertise between the University and community partners. The system captures key details such as partners involved, external funding, target populations, focus areas, scholarship connections (including courses, research, and student involvement), and goal tracking. Goal tracking includes outputs, impacts, alignment with institutional outcomes, community reach, data collection methods, and supporting reports or analyses.
You have two options.
Collaboratory is not currently publicly accessible. Only Rutgers affiliates—those with NetIDs—have access to Collaboratory at this time. When an activity is published, it becomes visible on the Collaboratory portal. Activities can always been unpublished or archived.
Collaboratory creates a portfolio of your community impact.
It allows Rutgers affiliates to share their community-engaged activities, courses, research, and partnerships across all of Rutgers’ chancellor-led units.
It connects projects, partners, units, and outcomes so you can:
