Kristin August, PhD
Biography
Kristin August, PhD, is a member of the Psychology and Health Sciences Departments at Rutgers University, Camden and the Founding Director of the Graduate Program in Prevention Science.
Dr. August is a health psychologist and gerontologist whose primary research interest involves how relationships with family members, friends, and health care providers can help or hinder the engagement in health behaviors. She’s also interested in the link between physical and mental health more broadly. She examines these research questions in diverse populations, such as individuals with chronic illness, older adults, racial/ethnic minorities, sexual minorities, and individuals with disabilities.
She currently serves as a Deputy Editor for Stress and Health, Section Editor for the Encyclopedia of Mental Health (3rd edition) and is on the editorial boards for Health Psychology and Journal of Health Psychology.
